Want bigger breasts? There are many ways to get them. You can gain weight, get pregnant, and then keep your pregnancy-sized breasts by nursing your baby. However, if you don’t want to gain weight or get pregnant, there’s always the obvious option: get breast implants.
Fifteen years ago, the concept of “working with what you’ve got” for smaller cupped women meant using a padded push-up bra. In the late 80’s and 90’s, breast implants were most commonly seen in warmer climates and in professions where these purchasable assets could equate to increased “hireability” or increased tips.
Women living in small towns across America could flip through lingerie magazines or watch TV shows with well endowed women running on beaches with their perfectly symmetrical breasts remaining perfectly still and think - “well, I could look like that too if I had fake breasts”. Getting breast implants seemed an unattainable goal for any woman with an average salary living outside major metropolitan areas where breast implants weren’t common.
Today, due to the advent of makeover reality shows that routinely use cosmetic surgery as a means for women to attain their ideal body, breast implants are increasingly becoming more commonplace and more available to a wider audience.
